Light paraffinic spirits

4 grades

Narrow-cut hydrotreated spirits in the C5 to C9 range, made up of normal and iso-paraffins with naphthenes. Boiling range sets the drying speed and the flash point, and the aromatic content is low across the range.

MasimoSol SBP 40/65 (C5-C6 N Paraffin)

Special boiling point spirit 40/65. C5 to C6 cut.

  • Fast-drying lacquers, paints and varnishes
  • Adhesive and rubber cement formulation
  • Cleaning where residue-free evaporation matters
  • Diluent in polymerisation and liquid extraction

MasimoSol SBP 80/110

Special boiling point spirit 80/110. C6 to C7 cut, available as a low n-hexane grade.

MasimoSol SBP 100/140 (C7-C9 N Paraffin)

Special boiling point spirit 100/140. C7 to C9 cut, roughly 60 percent paraffins with 40 percent naphthenes.

  • Thinner in coatings and printing inks
  • Adhesive and sealant formulation
  • Industrial degreasing and parts cleaning
  • Agrochemical and industrial diluent

Hexane

Supplied as commercial extraction grade or as pure n-hexane. Confirm which grade you need when you order, because the two differ on boiling range, flash point and labelling.

  • Extraction of edible oil from soya, sunflower and canola
  • Solvent and diluent in polyolefin polymerisation
  • Adhesive, rubber cement and sealant formulation
  • Laboratory extraction of oils, fats and lipids

Dearomatised aliphatic fluids

4 grades

Hydrotreated aliphatic fluids in the white spirit range and above, with almost all the aromatics removed. They stand in for conventional white spirit where odour and aromatic content have to come down. Aromatic content differs between the light and heavy grades, so ask for the figure on the grade you are specifying.

MasimoSol D40

Dearomatised white spirit. The lightest and fastest-drying of the D grades.

  • Agrochemical carrier and printing ink solvent

MasimoSol D70

Dearomatised aliphatic fluid, mainly C11 to C14 paraffins and naphthenes. Deep hydrogenation gives it a mild odour and low volatility.

  • Base fluid in metalworking, cutting and honing fluids
  • Drilling and oilfield fluid formulation
  • Industrial cleaning and degreasing
  • Agrochemical carrier, low-odour coatings and inks

MasimoSol D90

Dearomatised aliphatic fluid of C12 to C16 paraffins and naphthenes, heavier and less volatile than D70. Our datasheet records it as meeting the LVP-VOC exemption criteria used by CARB, the US EPA and the Ozone Transport Commission.

MasimoSol D100

The heaviest dearomatised grade we carry, mainly C13 to C15 paraffins and naphthenes. Very low volatility, for processes where solvent loss and flash point matter more than drying speed.

Aromatic solvents

2 grades

Aromatic solvent naphthas made up of alkylbenzenes, for jobs where solvency has to be strong enough to hold resins and active ingredients that aliphatic fluids will not dissolve.

MasimoSol A100

Light aromatic solvent naphtha. Also sold as Aromatic 100.

  • Active ingredients in agrochemical emulsifiable concentrates
  • Architectural and industrial coatings needing high solvency
  • Printing inks and wood preservatives
  • Fuel additive, oilfield and refinery chemical formulation

MasimoSol A150

Heavy aromatic solvent naphtha, boiling higher than A100 and evaporating more slowly. Reduced-naphthalene grades are available where naphthalene content has to be limited.

  • Agrochemical emulsifiable concentrates
  • Industrial coatings needing high solvency and slow release
  • Printing inks and foundry resins
  • Fuel additive and oilfield chemical formulation

Oxygenated solvents

4 grades

Glycol ethers, an alcohol and a diol. These mix with water as well as with organic solvents, which is what makes them the coupling solvents in waterborne systems.

Methyl Proxitol (MP)

Propylene glycol monomethyl ether. Also called PGME or PM, CAS 107-98-2. Fully miscible with water, and the standard replacement for the restricted ethylene glycol ethers.

  • Acrylic, epoxy, alkyd, polyester and polyurethane coatings
  • Coupling solvent in waterborne coatings and cleaners
  • Electronics: laminate manufacture, flux and resist removal
  • Printing inks, agrochemical, textile and leather dye carrier

Methyl Proxitol Acetate (MPA)

Propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate. Also called PGMEA or PMA, CAS 108-65-6. The acetate ester of MP: slower to evaporate, stronger on resins, only partly miscible with water.

  • Automotive, industrial maintenance and aerospace coatings
  • Photoresist and copper-clad laminate processing
  • Flexographic and screen printing inks
  • Industrial, oven and all-purpose cleaners, adhesives

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)

Isopropanol, propan-2-ol, CAS 67-63-0. Fast-evaporating secondary alcohol that mixes with water in all proportions and with most organic solvents.

  • Cleaning and degreasing in electronics and manufacturing
  • Coatings, printing inks and nitrocellulose systems
  • Disinfectant, antiseptic and sanitiser formulation
  • Chemical intermediate, extraction of gums and alkaloids

Monoethylene Glycol (MEG)

Ethylene glycol, ethane-1,2-diol, CAS 107-21-1. Colourless hygroscopic diol of low volatility, fully miscible with water.

  • Feedstock for PET resin, polyester fibre and film
  • Base fluid in antifreeze and engine coolant
  • Heat transfer fluid in HVAC, chiller and process cooling
  • Hydrate inhibition and dehydration in gas processing

Properties are not published on this page on purpose. Boiling range, flash point, density and aromatic content vary between producers and between batches, so the number that governs your process is the one on the paperwork for the material you are actually receiving.
