Mining and solvent extraction

Copper, cobalt, uranium and zinc circuits run an organic phase made of an extractant dissolved in a hydrocarbon diluent. The diluent is most of that inventory by volume, so it decides how fast the phases separate, how much organic is lost to entrainment and evaporation, and how much crud the circuit makes.

Inks Solvent selection sets tack, transfer and drying speed on press, across flexographic, screen and industrial inks. Solvents
Polymer production Light paraffinic spirits serve as polymerisation diluents and reaction media. Solvents, GTL

Metals, machines and land

Seed oil extraction Extraction-grade hexane strips oil from soya, sunflower, canola and groundnut. Solvents

Water treatment Synthetic paraffinic fluids carry the inverse emulsion in polyacrylamide flocculant manufacture. GTL
